The Alquemie10 prompts
Ten prompts for pages you can make tonight.
Creative Art Journaling is a live online class for imperfect artists. You'll make journal pages that combine writing, collage and simple drawing, and every page starts with a simple prompt.
Total beginners are welcome. Any art is good art, and the goal is a page that feels honest, not perfect.
A blank page is intimidating. A prompt gives you a door: three colors, one shape, a place you once visited.
Smell, sound and light hold more than we expect. The class uses them to pull back details you'd have sworn were gone.
What you save now is something your daughter, your sister or your own parents might love to read. Some pages even start the conversation.
Collage and paintings from the studio, posted as they happen. It's the same eye you'll bring to your own journal pages.

For class you'll need a notebook or paper, a pen or marker, a glue stick and scissors. Whatever's already in your drawer works fine. The rest of these are tools we reach for when we want to go further.

Hahnemuhle toned tan watercolor book (opens in a new tab)
A small book of toned tan paper, 30 sheets in a pocket-size A6. The warm tan base makes white pen and bright color glow, and it's easy to carry anywhere.
Stillman & Birn Nova beige sketchbook (opens in a new tab)
Heavyweight 150 GSM beige paper in a softcover 5.5 x 8.5 book. It's sturdy enough for glue, paint and layers when you want to build a page up.
Ruled 3x5 index cards (opens in a new tab)
The same format as the prompt cards. One memory per card, front and back, and they slip into a shoebox.
Sakura Pigma Micron pens (opens in a new tab)
Fine lines in archival ink that stays put once it's dry. Handy for handwriting, captions and small details.
White gel pen (opens in a new tab)
For writing across a dark scrap of paper or over a block of color, where regular ink disappears.
Tombow Dual Brush Pens (opens in a new tab)
Blendable water-based color with a brush tip, for soft backgrounds and loose lettering.
KAMENSKAYA rich gold leaf paint (opens in a new tab)
Liquid gilding paint with a built-in brush. A touch of metallic shine on a border, a shape or a single word makes a page feel finished.
Acid-free glue sticks (opens in a new tab)
The everyday option for class. Quick, tidy and easy to carry to the table.
Tombow Mono Multi liquid glue (opens in a new tab)
A clear-drying glue for holding paper scraps and photos exactly where you put them.
Washi tape set (opens in a new tab)
An easy way to frame a photo, mark a page or cover a rough edge.
Vintage paper pack (opens in a new tab)
Printed papers in vintage styles, so you've got pieces to start a collage without hunting for them.
Fiskars micro-tip scissors (opens in a new tab)
Small, sharp blades for cutting out tiny shapes, letters and the edge of a ticket stub.
